EOS - 60 years of successful history in Westerwald

How it all started
As of 1944, company founder Willi Günther produced cut-out parts and sheet metal parts, kitchen scales made of wood and metal, as well as fittings for the oven and stove industry with the help of his family in a small cellar in his residence. Later, small household appliances were also added such as bean and tobacco cutters.

Mr Günther initially worked with simple tools, and of course, everything was hand made. Gradually larger and more powerful machines were added. Then, in 1948, a production hall was built in Mademühlen.

EOS - a name for the "child"
EOS is the Greek goddess of the dawn, daughter of the titan couple Hyperion and Theia, sister of Helios and Selene. She represents the Roman aurora.

1950 - EOS brings oil-filled electric radiators to the market. The radiators, which were very innovative at that time, were well received by customers and gave the young company a tremendous additional boost.

18 years later, in 1968, EOS grew further and had to expand. The new production halls in Driedorf were built.

Then in 1973 came the decisive entry into the sauna technology sector. The company started building ovens and controllers for Finnish saunas. Already by the end of the seventies, EOS had become the market leader for sauna technology - and has remained so to this day.

1989 - a thrilling merger: The Günther Group took over the company Dr. Kern
The foundation was laid in 1983 for the extensive solarium program and worldwide sales. At that time, still under the label "EOS", the orientation was initially around the private and semi-professional sectors. When the Günther Group took over Dr. Kern, it became possible to also supply the professional market with excellent products using this brand name.

Sauna technology takes a new direction: In 1990, EOS vaporiser systems, i.e. combo ovens with integrated vaporisers, were brought onto the market. As of 1995, the product range was expanded to include under-bench heating systems and commercial sauna ovens with a capacity of up to 36 kW.

It continued to be interesting. New consumer-friendly technologies and ideas become established. In 1996, EOS introduced a coloured light system including a control unit for saunas. For the infrared technology sector, the year 2000 brought the construction of the company's own radiating element module and the associated control units.

With the market launch of the "VIVA" tanning equipment in 2000, Dr. Kern rung in a new era in solarium technology and development.
The innovative 6-corner design of sauna ovens was introduced to the sauna sector in 2001.
2003 provided a surprise with the market launch of the combo sauna oven "Bi-O Max" and the well thought-out EMOTEC® controller.

As of 2004, the most recent subject at EOS: the infrared shortwave range. By developing the VITAE lamps, Philips was successful at covering the complete infrared spectrum with one lamp. The maximum emitted wavelength lies below 3 µm. The sun and Philips VITAE lamps have comparable radiation in the wavelength range below 1.4 µm. With this cooperation, EOS took the task of creating optimum efficiency by building its own reflector for this lamp.

In 2004, the Dr. Kern product range had an extensive bandwidth. Tanning technology, i.e. products for the private or semi-professional sector (e.g. boarding houses and hotels), and wellness technology, such as massage equipment, form the hub.

The future vision of EOS
"Fit for the future and the new millennium!" That is the one of the most important success factors of the companies EOS and Dr. Kern. This applies in particular to the specific orientation around the growth markets of wellness and health, and it is orientated around the continuously increasing life expectancies and needs. To meet changed customer demands is another element of the philosophy of all employees. Built on this is the continuous research and development, the high-quality production, as well as the continuous (advanced) qualification of all staff members. With this vision and strong motivation, the announced goals can be reached!

The Günther Group of the year 2004 consists of 9 internationally operating companies and employs more than 1,500 employees worldwide. The successful corporate group has been managed from the headquarters in Neunkirchen for more than 30 years. Dr. Wolfgang Günther lives his company philosophy with the vision "Set and achieve goals". The fact that this is of major importance, especially in modern times, is shown by the different product ranges and markets in which the numerous companies operate successful. This principle applies in particular to the clever combination of the companies EOS and Dr. Kern. Thanks to the diversity of their products, they are complete providers in all aspects of health, wellness, regeneration, and beauty. They can achieve synergy effects as far as safety, quality, and design is concerned and make efficient use of them in terms of customer satisfaction.
